MP3 Using as a Notification Ringtone

Hello
I just recorded a sound with my Nexus One, I editted it on my computer to a MP3 file.
When I put this MP3 in the map: Media-->Notifications and I unmount the SD card, then I can see the MP3 in Notification Ringtone BUT when I selected to use, and I send a SMS to my Nexus One, it just vibrates and don't play a sound...
I tried also the apps: Rings Extended, MP3 Ringtone...But it doesn't work.
The only thing that worked was Handcent SMS, here I can use the MP3 sound.
Anyone have suggestions how I can fix this problem?
Thanks

When I have had this problem before it has been because there is a formatting error with the MP3...the system cant parse it or something.

I used Cooledit Pro to save as a WAV and then re-save the file as MP3. After that the system played it fine.
