Sounds like you are looking for Screebl. It's in the Market, it's a free app and will keep your phone from locking when you have it in use. Check it out.

ok i just got screebl lite. now does it only not lock itself when im using it. because i just left it alone and it locked itself. lol i dont want it to lock itself at all.

Did you see the video that came with it? Check it out and it will describe how it works.

You can't set it to never time out. You can set it for 30 minutes in your settings. Settings/sound & display/screen time out.

why would you never want it to time out??? it will suck your battery dry in less than 2 hours. maybe when its on the charger but then it would take 4 times longer to charge.

If you're looking for an app that will allow the display to go off but the phone doesn't lock (as in, if the display goes off, you hit the power button, the lock screen does not come back on)...then look into ScreenModeWidget. I do not think Screebl will do what you want it to do, if my assumption above is correct. Screebl works great to keep the display on, but once the display goes off, the phone will lock.

myLock does this as well :)
Screen Mode Widget unlocks the phone with the power button, volume rocker, and camera button.
myLock only unlocks the phone with the power button.

Just a little clarification for the OP :)
