Motorola Droid 2.1

Motorola doesn't care about us Droid owners anymore. We are the step children. They have a device that is coming out that will be their focus child.

We just getting the left-overs. Take it how you want it.

thats the thing though people are always gonna feel that way no matter what even when the next phone comes out theyre gonna be complaining about the same things cuz a newer phone is gonna be on the horizon

The solution? We need to go into the future and buy phones from that time. Come back, and then be happy.

Sombody will b$&#* about that too lol

Well, I just got the update!

NAH, JK!! Geez guys, it's just an update. It will not cook you dinner or scratch your back. Im waiting patiently, but I'm not checking my phone every 2 seconds like im gonna miss it or something. It will happen when it happens.

I'm just hoping that there are a few key things that are taken care of.

Is there any fix yet for adding a signature to the email program?? Hopefully that will be one thing they will fix.

I'd rather wait a few more weeks/months than receive an incomplete 2.1. As much as I am anticipating the update, we deserve better than this.

I don't know about "deserve"..... The Droid is not the nexus as much as everybody hopes it ends up that way.
I imagine they want to leave a little distance between the two just so there is a market for the Nexus aside from no keyboard... why is that an incentive... the droid has a keyboard.. even if we dont use it what the benefit of tossing it if we already have it?.... almost nothing in thickness saved.

I'll be thankful for what I get and I hope I get it all.. but if we got no update at all... thats one update more than I expected when I first bought the Droid back when it was basic 2.0.

At some point, they "will" stop giving us all the creamy updated toys and leave that for the newer devices..... we do know that right?

Just because the OS continues to update does not mean they will eternally keep the droid up to par with the latest devices?

Motorola would be easier to deal with if we were a bit more grateful for what we got.

This reminds me of Haiti when they almost tore up the delivery trucks and beat the women and children away so only the strong got the food....

Lets mellow a bit for peets sake and not be a mob...

I figure the longer we wait, the more goodies we get and the better they will be!... let them add and tweak all they want till they are satisfied!

Its cool they at least let us know they are releasing something to us!...

We could have gotten nothing!.. no we don't deserve an update as if to act like we are being mistreated if we don't get it!

Just how spoiled are we?

Lets have a little fun with the anticipation because once we get it, Christmas will be over!

By "deserve", I meant that we deserve an update when the update is ready. I guess this means that we agree on everything. Im up for having fun while we wait for all the goodies they are packaging. :)

I've never tried it but the gmail app already has an activation to enable a personal signature... is that not working?

One thing is for sure.. not matter how fabulous the update is.. it will never be an all in all and we will have the need for apps to fulfill all our special needs.
I"m sure the marketplace will never go away.

Sorry if I misrepresented... its just starting to get crazy!

Like telling your kid he can have an ice cream cone and then saying "later"....

It would have been better not to say.... I think thats why Motorola has been so tight lipped.

We don't like delayed gratification!

BTW... does this make me look like I have to whiz? :icon_ banana:

Why would the marketplace go away in any case? I am honestly getting overwhelmed with all of the complaints I keep hearing about the Android OS. It doesn't have this, it doesn't have that......

Well guess what? The WHOLE idea of Android is IF it doesn't have what you want, you are able to install an app that adds that functionality. Sure, Android comes with a core set of basic apps. But, the spirit of the Android project is NOT to use just those apps, and then whine about everything it doesn't do. It's an OPEN OS, if you need to add functionality, go ahead.

How many people would install Windows 7, and then use Wordpad as their primary word processor? Same idea with Android.

In the end, NO OS will ever be the end-all of OSes. Different folks are looking for different things. For me, Android 2.0.1 (or even 2.0 for that matter) is fine. For others, apparently, anything short of the Nexus One's build of 2.1 is junk. I personally don't see it. I tried a Nexus One, the OS is really nothing special.

Wow, Live Wallpapers? YAY!!!!! I could see myself using those approximately as often as Dreamscenes on Windows Vista (never at all)

3D App Drawer? Well, I can't honestly say I care how my app drawer looks, especially since I use GDE, not Launcher.

So your point is that Droid users are children? Based on this thread I'd have to agree.

He is talking about the ability to support signatures in the regular Email app, not Gmail. This is a big oversight as it creates no signature ability for corporate email accounts.
