Motorola Droid 2.1

This March time frame is nothing new. We were told by the end of Q1 we would have 2.1. So really we have learned nothing new while CK is covering all the bases. He has not given a specific date so as long as 2.1 arrives in March his info seems accurate. There is just too many dates being thrown around in this thread, give us some proof so we can finally start to believe it. I could make the same prediction that 2.1 will be here by March and I will be right also, because thats what Moto has already told us.

I don't mind waiting anymore, no matter how long it takes. I have bugless beast with 2.0.1 app drawer with 5 screens. -2.1 Keyboard with Voice Input. -2.1 Gallery 3D, MultiTouch, Picasa Syncing, -2.1 Music App, -2.1 News and Weather App V1.1.7, -2.1 Ringtones & Notification Sounds , -2.1 Wallpapers , -Milestone Video Player , -Milestone MultiTouch Gallery , -Milestone MultiTouch Browser RC4 , -Milestone Photo Editor , -Default Droid "hidden" wallpaper , -Overclocked Kernel , -Wireless Tethering, Theme:-Smoked Glass, AND MUCH MORE. I'm running at 800mhz and everything looks and runs wonderful.

Whenever 2.1 ever actually comes, I will return my Droid to stock and then get the update.

No rush

I still cant believe how long this thread is :D

If anyone just simply wants to have a taste of 2.1, I highly recommend grabbing the $5 SMUpdater app from the Sholes Team. It's almost idiot proof too if you are nervous in any way. I know I was at first.

And if you are a rotton s o b you can download it for free from their site.

Question for anyone that has used this.... when you run it does it do the entire process of rooting and installing a new rom for you? If this is how it works, it sure makes the process painless for even the boobiest of noobs.

My sources tell me that 2.1 should be sent by ota to our phones sometime in the 1st quarter. If anything changes I will let you know.

(humor injected)

I'm probably gonna stick with the droid for a while... but i definetly like the nexus one. I got the droid not only because of the slick android operating system, but because they sold me on the physical keyboard. Now, I don't use the physical keyboard, ever. So, the nexus one is very appealing to me.

Guess that nails it - time to ROOT! ;)

Just wondering what the best guide is to do it ? I don't need it to be "idiot" proof and don't want to pay for an app. Just want it to be thorough.

Thanks!

Either use Sholes.info SMupdater

Or Bugless Beast and follow these instructions: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ha...ng-only-sprecovery-terminal-emulator-zip.html

To decide which is best for you do some research and decide for yourself. Study everything to get yourself somewhat comfortable with the process. If you are good at following instructions you will have no problem.

When the 21 update arrives, we can go back to stock without root and update if we like.
