Motorola Droid 2.1

@dessothumbs:

If you JUST got your Droid, you may very well be running 2.0.0 instead of 2.0.1. The 2.0.1 has the lag issue as stated above. Or..you just got damn lucky. :-) People "not believing you" may just be them saying they don't understand why. I doubt anyone here was actually calling you a liar. It is all probably just a misunderstanding. It may be cause you have no apps loaded (but not likely). It may be that you are running 2.0.0. It may be that you got one of those "non-existant" upgrades that Moto swears didn't go out (but did). Anyways, your browser is super fast! Awsome! I know, I came from a BB and the browser is fast as hell when comparing the two. But my browser is not as "smooth" as it was in 2.0.0. (I'm running 2.0.1).

Yeah, you're right, they probably didn't understand and didn't mean to come across as calling me a liar. I'm sorry. I was a little tense last night after the day at work I had.

Anyway, my droid shows 2.0.1 as the firmware version, but like I've said I only have a few apps installed (not sure that would matter) and I keep em killed with Advanced Task Killer pretty often.

Like I said, not sure if these things would even matter, but my browser is fast responsive and as smooth as a babies behind. :)

FWIW, I work in software and for consumer software a company needs to be very careful about what they let out the door, else it costs a fortune in customer support calls. So it's almost always to test more than less. There may be a few corner cases which (as someone mentioned) were found with N1, or even became evident on the Droid hardware.

Problem with mentioning dates is that it sets expectations and some problem resolutions have unpredictable fix times.

I bet motorola is doin this on purpose......they just sit in the big confrence room and pull up the forums and start laughing "ha ha ha look at all this people wanting the 2.1 we can make them wait all they want ha ha ha" if we r ready to get the upgrades then WHAT THE H*** IS STOPPING THEM FROM LAUNCHING IT!!!!! Eeerrrrrrrrrrrr they suck.

I would imagine the reason it's not being released yet has to do with myriad factors, not the executives in a board room messing with people

I have expounded on my theories as to why this is, but I am sure it's not a "corporate conspiracy" of any kind. I am sure that there are technical, marketing, and other considerations. Yeah, it's irrtating that it hasn't been released, but, then, that's how it goes in this world.. I am sure when it is released the reasons as to why will become evident to everyone. I for one can wait... it will get here when it gets here.

Not to be a dick but do we have something official that actually says we are going to get 2.1, 2.1.1 or whatever? All Ive seen is blogs about it, moderators saying we will, experts saying we will, etc. Has anyone even seen or heard an official "Droid will get 2.1" from Motorola, Google or Verizon? I want to hear or see it right from them. If it's not from them it doesn't mean crap really IMHO. We may not even be getting this at all? Dont get me wrong, I'd love to see it, but isn't all just speculation that we are going to get an undated Android OS on the Droid?

Yes, there has been serveral official saying that the Droid is getting 2.1 as well as the Cliq. Here is Motorola official twitter page: MotoMobile @ Twitter, here is another posting from 1/5/10: Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha.

All the Droid and Cliq users would like some communication like Sprint release the other day.

I just got my phone about 2 weeks ago (2.0.1). I haven't had any lag when browsing, but I do have a problem where my callers sound like they are talking with their mouth covered. Everything sounds distant.

Come on u really think I bealive that they are sitting in a room laughing at us.... it was suppouse to be kind of funny. Of course that's not why we don't have the 2.1. Also I don't think its technical cause its never goin to be perfect I can bet you anything that when it does come out we will find something wrong with it..... well they might be fixing some things but not all of them

Any ways I have a question does anybody know why I have to press the letter "M" on my keyboard harder than the other ones? Does that make scense....lol

I think EVERYONE on this board should be required to post their age or birth date because a lot of members sound like they are teenagers that think the world owes them something.
Everything that has been posted predicting dates of the update has been conjecture, hearsay or guesses.

Motorola, Google nor Verizon have ever posted a date or time frame for the update. If I were any three of the above I would find out who all the whiners are and make them wait until LAST for their updates:icon_ devil:

It's a two-way street really. While the younger generation(s) are used to everything delivered instantly from their media to their updates and even food, the older generations seem to have this sense of entitlement that derives from the "customer is always right" attitude.

Impatience knows no bounds, its only portrayed differently in each given individual.

Now that that is said and out of the way, the world owes me an update. Why? No idea. I just felt like saying that, and in particular using this icon :icon_ banana:.

I'm really just kind of pissed at motorola. If they wanted us to have this update, we would have it by now. Something doesn't seem right.
