So now what? Theres nothing we can do about the situation, manbearpig has taken over Verizon, as well as eat everybody thats employed with Google and Motorola. Check it, look it up. I thought everyone knew this?

I gotta say I am surprised that we haven't gotten the 2.1 update yet. When i got my Droid I was told it was a "Google Experience" and that no modifications were to be made to the OS. As a result when 2.0.1 was released, we got it about a week later which is very reasonable.

While the Nexus One has been out almost a month, the Android 2.1 source code wasnt officially available till about 1.5 weeks ago so while we are still in a reasonable time frame, I'm guessing it will still be a bit longer (1-2 weeks?) possibly due to some of the bugs found in Android 2.1 and who knows, we might skip it and go straight to 2.1.1.

What does both me though is the lack of communication from Motorola/Verizon about the OTA update. We all know via a leaked document it was originally scheduled to be released the 22nd, obviously that date was missed for whatever reason. It would be nice for Motorola for example to state "We are testing Android 2.1 and have a few critical bugs left to fix before we will release it". They don't even need to give out an ETA, just some information as a show of good faith so their user base is calmed down.

All the above is very funny but there is a serious side to all of this. I believe that the lack of communication from Verizon, Motorola and Google Android development regarding when the next update will occur shows a marked lack of coordination between these companies which could very much hurt user satisfaction and, eventually, Android market share.

Sheesh, some of your guys are a little tight about this.
I'll take an update if it comes but am not worrying if it does or not.
My 2.0.1 unit runs fine and has none of the problems I see reported.
I have a smooth scrolling browser, my wired head set does not disable my phone ear speaker, no freezes or restarts. Amazing!
Its just me but for the life of me I don't need 5 home screens. And live wallpaper? Who the heck sits around staring at their phones wall paper?
Is this thing a tool or a toy?

We know for every complaint there are thousands of the opposite. I'm a lucky one this time :icon_ banana:!

Ditto I love my phone and best of all. There not recalling 2.3 million droids for gas pedal sticking! If 2.1 shows... great, till then enjoy:rockon:

It been said before, 2.1 will be nice but what I really want is Flash 10. And without either of them this is still the best phone I've ever had.

My thoughts exactly. I dont really care about most of the things i've heard about 2.1. I really just want to listen to some flash music sites. I dont have my hopes too high for flash 10 (nothing like being able to watch hulu or something) but I dont doubt the awesome capability of this phone :)

yeah i played around with 2.1 on a nexus one today really cool and fluid i liked the new scrolling up menu feature

I am glad many people are happy with 2.01 but...

I am waiting for the next update not because 2.1 is so great (although I think it is cool) but because I hope they include a fix for the bluetooth issue many Nissan and Acura cars are having as I was promised by a Verizon technician back in November (who said there will be an update in December that will probably fix it but if not then almost definitely in the January OTA update).

I too love this phone overall but this bluetooth thing almost caused me to have an accident as I tried to fish my Droid out of my belt holster at 55 mph (or in that general vicinity). I have a job where I must take my calls as some of them are urgent.

Hey, guess what......we will never receive anymore updates. Besides the 2.0.1 update that we already got in December, there will not be anymore updates issued by VZW, Motorola, or Google. Never. I've just received confirmation on this FACT. So go ahead, root, try out ROMs, and install 2.1 that way because that's the ONLY way you'll ever see it...

This is the kind of post that makes some of us go hmmm ... and you know this how?

See that's just it though you're hoping for the fix and I hope it's there too but I have a feeling that many of these fixes people are looking for may not be included. I see a huge let down when this comes out because it's been pretty well hyped and peoples expectations may be too high.

Verizon reps probably meant well but they should never have told people stuff will be delivered that they couldn't verify. That is unless Google promised it and didn't live up to their promise.
