This makes sense. What doesn't make sense to me is: why would Google go in with Motorola and Verizon, create a "Google Experience" device, advertize the crap out of it. . . and then compete with it? It's like the dog that chases it's own tail. There's definitely a conflict of interest here. If it comes down to it, and Google has to make a choice, us Droid users are gonna get the short end of the stick. I just don't see why they would put so much effort into this device only to compete with it. I bet the non-disclosure agreements between the three (Google, Verizon, Motorola) would give me a headache!
You're right it's convoluted...but, the developer of the OS has decided to become a player in the smart-phone market..... Somewhere, in some board room, some marketing/research/development types decided that there was money to be made by making a smart-phone to their specifications for their OS. The thing that makes it even more so, is that Motorola is licensed to put that OS on their devices that it was earmarked for, so, I would imagine that any agreement on the use of the OS probably include and agreement to receive all updates, and new versions of the OS, it's like I alluded to in my last post about Microsoft making their own PC's and how screwy that could get. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface, but, it makes sense by the standards of that business, to the people in that business...
I could only imagine what the non-disclosure agreements are like between the three of them, and then between each one (VZW-Motorola, Motorla-Google, VZW-Google)
