:motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz:Verizon will begin pushing 2.1 upgrade to Moto Droid phones on 1/17/10 if not sooner. That's exclusive information from a Senior IT Tech. I'm certain my info is 99.99% accurate just wait and see!

ditto. i hope that gallery will have picasa support

Fom what we hae seen of 2.1 on the nexus, we will have picassa support....I cant wait for 2.1... looks like its gonna be out before i get my droid

And you are probably going to need to perform the update when you get home and the phone is plugged in; can't do an update when the battery is below a certain level.

When I got my droid last week, it did not have the 2.01 update.

Is there any word on whether 2.1 addresses the following issues?

- Lack of handsfree dialing
- Lack of locked screen media controls
- Failure to rotate to landscape mode unless the keyboard is slid out

thats weird any of the demos in the store ive seen have had the newest software... and my friends droid he got around christmas also had 2.01

Mine updated while I was in the store (waiting for the sales person to finish activating the other phone). I was prompted/asked to update shortly after she turned it on and gave it to me. Was finished in a few minutes before I was finished paying.

well the demos are going to have the newest updates so that customers don't have any problems. i don't know how long my droid was waiting for me in the storage area, it prompted me to update in the store but it warned me that the battery could have been too low. better safe than sorry, updated at home; same with the wife's eris.

Yeah I would like that when I call in car mode it uses by BT instead of the mic on the phone. Hell It would also be smart that the screen doesn't rotate back to vertical when I call when my droid is in the car dock. I thought that car mode would keep the phone in the horizontal setting.

Do you mean that the home screen doesn't rotate? i am sure there is a good reason for that.

I got my Droid also last week, it came with 2.0.1 but it had a system update as well, but it was still at 2.0.1

I noticed with dxTop install, there is an option for the screen to rotate in to landscape mode without sliding out the keyboard.

The Droid does rotate to landscape even when the keyboard is not slid out, you just have to enable it in the settings. Press Menu > Settings > Sound and Display > Orientation (make sure it is check marked) and it will rotate without the need of sliding out they keyboard.

Not on the home screen, not without a 'Home Replacement' program over the top of it. Programs will rotate but for some reason (that I can personally not figure out) Google decided NOT to support landscape for the homescreen w/o the keyboard being opened (this is another da huh moment, IMHO).
