im starting to get that tingly feeling that we are going to get 2.1 really soon.

cant be long now.

and again... motorola for the last time ill say this, has CONFIRMED we are going to get 2.1 on the droid. unless the motorola facebook page is a fake. and for the record, i no longer believe ANYTHING a verizon person tells me.

im pretty sure its the same .pdf that is posted above

I can't get the other PDF file to come up here @ work so I can't compare the two files .. The one here at work looks like this ,,,

Top says,, Motorola Droid with Verizonwirless over to the right

Left side top has "Software updates"

Left side bottom has Specs"

The rest of the page showes three pictures,, 1. Droid , 2. Droid in car mount , 3. Droid in Multimedia Station ..

Does this sound like the same PDF file ??

hmm

that pdf looks fishy.. especially since it doesnt list the new launcher with 5 screens instead of three...to me, thats the biggest feature upgrade on 2.1

isnt 2.1 still in the 2.0 family though? i mean wouldnt they list anything before 3.0 being in the 2.0 category? can someone maybe clarify this to me .. thanks

Sounds like the same one.

Looks like we should get multitouch as well. see article Google to Add Multitouch to More Android Apps - Reviews by PC Magazine

"
Soon, Google will unleash a new Android platform release called "Android 2.1 – Update 1," which will include the updates for all Android manufacturers, the company said.
Once Google makes it available, it would be possible for any Android devices that have a touch screen with multitouch capability to offer pinch-to-zoom gestures in the Web browser, maps and gallery applications. That could potentially include every Android phone now available in the U.S. But notice the fine print: Google is releasing this to manufacturers, not directly to users. It will be up to Motorola, Samsung, HTC and the wireless carriers to boil the new software down for their individual phones.
The Motorola Droid (which currently runs Android 2.0.1 and the Motorola CLIQ (which runs Android 1.5) will most likely receive Android 2.1 - Update 1. Last month at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las, Vegas, Motorola chief executive Sanjay Jha said that both phones will receive updates to Android 2.1 "as shortly as possible." Sprint has also announced that their HTC Hero and Samsung Moment phones will receive Android 2.1 updates during the first half of 2010. "

SO i have been having a bunch of little problems with my droid....I talked to somedoy at motorola and they gave me a verizon vendor phone number and code. After speaking with the guy from verizon he asked me which version and build number i had. I told him 2.0.1 and esd56. He informed me against sending in a new one RIGHT NOW because he was talking about an update....he said he would call me in a week to see if I am running into the same problems....hmmmmmmm

sounds like this PDF file would go along with what this verizon rep told me.....

I'm not getting too excited yet though

Just deleted the new and updated maps to 3.4. It really is the sweetest app out there.

Update 3.4 was just released on the marketplace. No need to manually downloaded it!

For those of us that downloaded it and installed it yesterday manually, don't forget to uninstall it. If you installed it yesterday you will have 2 maps icons in your apps manager. Uninstall the one that ONLY has the "uninstall" button, not the one that says "uninstall updates".

If you leave them both there it won't matter, just less confustion.

Just got 3.4 from the market. It has Pinch to zoom. Woohoo... Now if they only updated the browser too. But I guess Dolphn serves that purpose for the time being

Here is a screen shot.

i have a feeling we might be getting it soon. idk. this 2.1.1 update really kind of explains the wait. you know? motorola holding off maybe because google did say like wait. we have a new update so include it why send two updates so close together when you can send one. im fine now. since i have my rooted 2.0.1 running at 800 mhz with 2.1 gallery, music player, and launcher. im happy. but im not one of those people that will "wait" until 2.1 is rooted. no. i will install the OTA immediatly. the thing is... no one has considered that when using the 2.1 rom on the droid... its not as fast as 2.0.1. the live wallpapers are laggy. ok we can overclock the droid.so maybe verizon/moto are doing this? maybe in the next 2.1.1 or 2.1 update for us droiders they will overclock it a little but. to a better speed that is really stable. it makes sense. or lower the processor dependency of live wallpapers. etc. but i dont know why they couldnt just overclock the processor a bit in the next uupdate..

who knows.

Okay, I did this. Now the only version I have is the one with the "Uninstall updates" button. Unfortunately, now Maps doesn't have pinch-zoom. The other one did because i was just using it.

So now what? Do I just delete all versions of Maps and get it from the Market?

Go on the market place, look at your downloads and there should be an update available.

No, now go to the Market and install the official update. Then you will only have one... the official one.

I was speaking about those that did the update yesterday that was not official.
