missing pictures in gallery

New pictures I downloaded aren't showing up in the gallery. I can see them in file manager so I know they are I just can't see them in gallery.
I'm running rooted dtock android.

Put them in you DCIM folder.

Sweet that worked but the strange thing is when I moved it the rest of the pictures in root sdcard are now showing up in gallery.

If they were in a folder that started with a period (like .media) then they will not show up in the gallery, nor will they show up if the folder has a file called .nomedia in it.

You should be able to put pics in any folder and have them show in the gallery. The gallery just doesn't refresh right away most of the time. SDrescan makes mine show up.
