media share

First let me say two things 1) I hope this is posted in the right place and if not please move 2) I am a complete idiot. So now to my question, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use media share and connect my droid to the computer . I have tried everything I can find on the net and nothing makes sense to me. From what I know you connect through windows media player but I cannot make it work please help. I tried the streaming media but nothing.

What exactly are you wanting to achieve? I use Mediatomb to stream audio to my D2. I can also pull video using it, but it is download only, no streaming. Works pretty good.

For media share to work, your computers on your network need to be hosting a media server ala uPnP/DLNA.

The procedure varies from OS to OS, but in Windows, it's a built-in feature of WMP (on XP) and Win 7 -- find the setting and turn it on.
