Stoped by the verizon store yesterday to double check to make sure I have my new every 2 upgrade available, which I do, and you get a little information.

Okay, according to the verizon sales representative at my store.... when I said "just checking to see what you got, now I'm looking for an upgrade but rumor has it the bionic is coming out september eight."

to which he responded..."rumor? it's coming out the 8th, it's official"

to make a long conversation short... he agreed that technically there's been no official announcement from verizon or motorola that september eighth is official.... But, the phone is going on sale september eighth- that's barring a last min delay of course.

I did mention something about preorders and he said he hadn't heard anything about pre orders but that he would call me if he did.

If no one cares I'm sorry, if this is already been posted I'm sorry, but it's a little bit of good information.... so I thought I'd share

At least your Verizon reps know the date. The ones here didn't even know when...or at least that's what they said...

I went to a VZW store yesterday too to see about upgrading before my scheduled time (to get the bionic) and the guy said that he cannot confirm or deny a september 8th launch. He also said he hasn't gotten any launch kits either. The way he was acting, he wasn't allowed to say ANYTHING about the bionic. strange how we have such disparate treatment at stores regarding the bionic.

yeah I know it's funny -but my rep definitely said the 8th of this month itll be on sale. I guess it just depends on who the person is a store, and whether theyre a stickler for the rules because I'm sure that the rep was not supposed to give me that information....

I'm wondering about the "no preorders".... I'm drawing two conclusions...

1. They have ample supply of Bionics and are not worried about selling out.

2. It might delay again.

Yeah, I talked to a rep at the mall yesterday, he said the 8th was 100%.

He was also telling me a moto rep was just in there the day before, handed him the Bionic and asked if they had any cases for it, he was like "What the heck...". Seems a dirty trich to play on an employee, haha.

yep that's what I heard too although I would say this is all barring a last second delay which has happened before... and by last second I mean the day before.

the verizon rep did mention to me that 1 of the other 4 g phones was supposed to come out on 1 day and the day before it was delayed for like a week or 2. I just can't remember which of the phones it was

They've been advertising it pretty heavily on TV the last few days, so unless they're delaying it to fix the root access, I'd say it's probably on track to be released on the 8th.

I've seen the commercial 4 times now and it's had the date on all of them.

I agree that they could easily delay it on September 7th.

I think it would be highly doubtful considering the response they would receive from the community and knowing what phones are only +/- 1 Month away.

The stores have their stock already, I imagine it's very uncommon to have stock for a device and have it delayed. I'm not saying your rep is wrong about the previous phone that it happened with, but I would take a guess that is not very common unless a very serious problem has been found, in which case, they can keep this phone=P

I think you're missing the point of course it is highly unlikely and doubtful and everyone would be pissed off. Dont think that stopped them with the droid charge ( I believe that's the 1 he said was delayed) or whichever 1 it what is.

the rep that I spoke with was very forthcoming with the information compared to most reps from what I have heard. he did not say that they have the phones in stock but he did tell me that he would call me when they received them.

so I called bs on your phones in stock statement

the whole point is that I started this thread to say that I had spoken with a corporate store sales rep who confirmed that they would have the phone for sale september eighth barring any last second delay.

I didn't say a last second delay was likely and I didn't say it was unlikely.

relax dude this is not an opinion thread this is a basic reporting of what I was told by a verizon corporate store sales rep yesterday.

honestly I don't care if you think it is unlikely. all that matters is that if there's not a delay the phone is coming out september eighth

My local Verizon store has already received their stock, checked with the manager yesterday that I went to college with.

I don't know how I injected any opinions in my last post, I simply stated that it is uncommon to delay a phone after stores start receiving stock.

The Charge was delayed because the 4G network had technical problems the day before the phone was set to release.

The Bionic is coming out on the 8th, you can take that to the bank. It's 100% happening. There will not be a delay under any circumstances. And the Packers will repeat as SuperBowl champions.
