Lost Gallery Photos

My husband and I both have the Motorola Droid v2.2. Since the upgrade to 2.2 my husbands phones gallery cannot find any pictures. They are still attached to his contacts and he can see the folders if attached to the PC. Any idea how to get the phone to see the folders again?

My phone works fine.

Finally... someone other than me dancedroidI'm having the same problem. I found posts last week (8/16-8/17) on how to recover the gallery after 2.2 upgrade; however, I can't seem to find them now.

Thanks

Thanks for replying. I'm glad you got yours back. Funny thing is about mid-day the day after the 2.2 update they all of a sudden appeared. ?? He's happy. Thanks again.

There is an app called SDRescan that can help 'refresh' your SD card contents without having to reboot your device.

Just an FYI :)

What you might try doing is clearing the associated cache; I did this by accident once.

First you'll need an app for exploring folders - Astro is a great app for this and it will come in handy for many things.

Once you have that installed:
1. Open the app, you should see a number of folders.
2. Navigate to the Android folder and then open the data folder.
3. In the data folder you'll see one called com.cooliris.media.
4. Inside of com.cooliris.media, you'll see the cache folder - this apparently contains all the album, picture, and video thumbnails.
5. Press the menu soft key, select Edit, then hit Select All. Up at the top hit Delete.
6. Restart the device.

When everything loads back up it will slowly recreate all the thumbnails. There might be a better way but all I know is if the files are still there then there's no need to use recovery software. Hope this helps. ;)

Thanks for the info. I just installed the SDRescan app but still no photos. Also, one of the lost photos I have as a contact pic and it's still showing via the contact. Is there anything else to try?

Ok... so I've 'selected all' but I'm hesitant to click 'delete'. Can you explain what's going to happen... I'm thinking 'delete' means just that :icon_eek: Oh yea... and when you say restart device is that when I power it off then back on again? Sorry... I'm a bit of a techno-tard

I hate Gallery. Gives me motion sickness. Is there a good alternative?

I have B&B Gallery and Photo Burst. I got those some time ago as they had pinch zoom before Gallery did.

Can either of these made to be the default gallery app?

I don't know. Maybe. I have a folder (using Apps Organizer) that has all of my camera apps. If I want to see a picture, I open that folder and select which one I want to use.
