I wasn't sure where to post this but wow. Sound Hound is getting into the voice search game in a big way.

You can download the app on the Play Store. A buddy of mine sent me an invite to unlock the thing. Blows Google Now and S Voice away on this Note4

I have been using it for a week. I thought Google Now was good. Hound is that much better.

Unfortunately when you get the invite code, each one is only good for one device. The first code came in 24 hours and I've been waiting for the second code since Saturday..

I'm having trouble sending texts with Textra on it but as far as speech,I just talk and it gets me. Now I've got to speak like it's deaf and English isn't its first language. Even then it's hit and miss. Hound understands my southern slang and accent. Scary understands like Swype beta used to do.

That's just completely nuts! I'm downloading it now if I can get it.

Does anyone have an activation code to spare?

Great question Jeffery, I wondered the same thing. Why would you want to use this one over Google if you have to tap it both before you ask the question AND after you've finished asking the question? That defeats the whole purpose of this type of app (or at least a large portion of it) IMO. Personally, I use Google Now because it's a "hands free" method and I don't have to touch my device, wake it up, turn on the screen, tap a button etc.
Maybe this will change over time, or we simply weren't shown this feature and its already there?
Looking forward to hearing what those of you that have tried it think.

S5 tap'n

Do you have to tap the circle or can it be set to an auto function?
I've looked at several tutorial and comparison videos and none show it working without tapping the app icon to open it first.
When I got my Nexus7 gen 1 a few years back Google Now only opened by long pressing the home button, no background voice capability. It was after a couple of updates to Android that it was implemented into it. I got that tablet when Google was sending jelly bean updates on am almost weekly basis do it didn't take long. Hopefully the same will be said with this app though it was in behind the scenes development for 10 years according to phandroid
I've written to the developer asking how to auto wake since the tutorial says it's possible and I've got it set to say "ok Hound" is supposed to auto wake it.

I was super excited about this when I saw that first video. I'm a little less excited after watching some of these:
hound google now - YouTube

Seems like it DOES do multiple part queries better and some things better than Google Now, but these videos make it seem not near as intense as the original video did.

With that said, I've got it installed and I'm waiting on an invite, so if anyone has a spare one lying around, I'd be happy to give it a try on my own. ;)
