Liberty 1.5 Known Issues

I won't swear on it, but it might be a hardware issue. I switched from 1.0 to 1.5, did not SBF, wiped data and cache, and I'm currently running the Gingerbread theme. I literally have had zero problems.dancedroid I had a market issue a couple days ago with another theme, that's obviously a theme issue as it's disappeared since switching to Gingerbread.

Let us know if you figure out the problem.

Let's look at the evidence.
Phone running stable.
Install new rom - phone becomes unstable.

Sorry, doesn't pass the common sense test to me.

The more realistic scenario IMO is the various custom environments users setup, conflicts/errors occur.

A number of issues can result from flashing a new ROM and its customization. Let's keep calm and help typoink figure out what happened. If you know the cause for the instability, do tell.
Yea I agree what's it doing while instable and where are most of the problems coming from....tell what all its doing and someone can prob help

Don't blame me my head and hands posted it.

I switched to 1.5 yesterday, and have experienced numerous lockups and reboots since. I did not SBF, but did wipe data and cache. Running the Gingerbread theme, but otherwise no changes to default install.

It's worked fine for over an hour at a stretch, but I've also seen it locked 3-4 times in less than an hour. It reset while in Navigation last night requiring a battery pull, and also did in my home dock overnight (screen was just black in the morning).

Twice, these resets have been accompanied by visual corruption on the screen -- jittery picture and noise. That would indicate to me a hardware issue or overheating, but I'm not sure, and it's odd that it only happened when I switched to 1.5.

I was the same way, until I tried Liberty a second time. I freakin' love it! It's miles ahead of Fission as far as development.

I only have one problem with 1.5, when I loaded it my phone would not go to landscape mode at all which meant that youtube or other video apps wouldn't work. I went back to 1.0 and the problem was fixed. I really want to use 1.5 so if anyone has a suggestion on how to fix this I really want to go back to using 1.5. Thanks.

A few of the apps that I've downloaded don't utilize the full screen space--I don't mean full screen as in no notification bar, but that the bottom 1/4 of the screen is just left black. The apps still work perfectly well from my testing, but I'm confused why they aren't scaling correctly. I thought it could be a problem with the apps, but then remembered that I was using them on 1.0 without any problem.

So far, the two apps I've found with this problem have been Mint.com Personal Finance and Sandroid, both free in the Market.

Well I have to say up front that this is the first time I've flashed a ROM. Just got my Droid 2 last week and it's great. My only issue so far with 1.5 pertains to the touchscreen. It's happened a couple times with no in particular connection with what I was doing. Essentially it seems like the touch screen just starts to misinterpret where I'm touching.

For example, the first time it happened I was typing up an sms message. I use the swype keyboard so I was trying to slide across the keyboard and it was randomly hitting other keys. It was as if my finger was coming off the screen and tapping it again with each movement of my finger.

The second time it happened I was on the lock screen and it acted the same way which meant I couldn't unlock the phone (I use the grid lock). In this case it seemed more random and would start hitting locations on the screen that I wasn't even close to.

In both cases, a simple reboot fixed the problem, but given it takes a minute or two for it to reboot, it's a bit annoying.

Anyone else noticed this? Is this a known android/droid 2 issue? I hadn't noticed this with the stock ROM, but like I said, I've only had the thing for a little over a week.

Alright, so further observations on my problem above. I just plugged my phone into my computer and it started exhibiting the problem I described above! As soon as I unplug it, it is fine. Rebooting in this case didn't help at all. Now I did some searching and turns out that others have had this issue and it seems like it may be related to the PC/cable in use.

Unfortunately, I know that when I was having issues with the lock screen, I didn't have it plugged in so hopefully it was just a fluke that time...

Given that, I'll look into this a bit more as a non-liberty problem for now.

Check and see if any apps are installed to your sdcard?? If so move them to the phone and see if you still have the issues?

I have to somewhat disagree on this. Although it will probably solve the issue (SBF'ing), I have to point out there are plenty of folks here, including myself, who have installed Liberty over another ROM with complete success. It would seem issues reported have more to do with apps wreaking havoc, other custom tweaks, phones not properly rooted, people not following directions, theme issues, restoring apps from a backup, etc...I don't think actual ROMs cause the majority of these issues if installed properly.

I think if people are running into issues they need to post more information other than simply what problem they're having. Give us the steps you took to install, tell us what you did after you installed, what apps do you have, what were you doing when it occurred, etc...maybe with more info we'll actually find the real sources of issues instead of hoping for some easy, magical fix. Make backups, troubleshoot by eliminating things one by one. Sometimes it takes a little learning and a little work. And dang I just sounded like a public service announcement so I better get back to work dancedroid.

Update here, after a few days back with fission the random reboots continue. Almost positive it's something I did rather than problem with either rom. I am going to SBF and try liberty again.

You can disagree all you'd like, but the fact of the matter is if you do run into a problem, you can't simply throw the blame on Liberty. I have had no problems with Liberty at all. None!

Umm you missed the point entirely, that's EXACTLY what I'm saying - it's not Liberty or the actual rom causing issues. But along with that your assumption about installing a ROM over another ROM causing problems is incorrect. People here do it all the time without problems. You don't necessarily HAVE to SBF every time you put a new ROM on. That probably should be a last resort IMO.

And to reiterate - Liberty is awesome. Mine works flawlessly. And I came from Fission 2.5.7 with a simple wipe cache/reset.

All I'm saying is take the time to find the real issue and you'll save yourself (and probably many others) from any future ones.

don't know if this was mentioned but im not connecting to my computer as of now... its plugged in and doesnt show up that it is... hopefully its the theme

EDIT: nevermind just needed a reboot!

2nd run with Liberty going well so far, no reboots, no major issues to report.

Noticed at least few bugs though.
1. Overclock settings do not do anything (settings/liberty settings/Overclocking). The typical solution seems to be to suggest purchasing an overclock app. Fine, but get the settings out of toolbox if they don't work.
2. Trying to install any Add-ons from Liberty Toolbox in landscape mode fails and crashes app.
3. If there are any corrupted downloads in sdcard/liberty/downloads trying to install associated addon from liberty toolbox fails

It would also be nice to queue things in Liberty Toolbox (like FRM does) and be warned before reboot. It stinks to click Blur Alarm clock for example (while in landscape mode) and get a automatic reboot and corrupted install. Pretty much everything in the GUI should be tested better. I found these issues within a few minutes of playing with Liberty.

It's weird to see people here argue over this rom being completely buggy or totally flawless.. Anyone claiming it's 100% flawless is either exaggerating or hasn't used it much. Seems like it's working well enough to keep using, but long long way from flawless.

The Liberty ROM itself is close to 100% flawless. All the bugs you reported are in the Liberty toolbox, which has been admitted to need work. So I stand behind everyone claiming the ROM itself is virtually flawless because it is. Basically every bug you listed .. Liberty Toolbox, not Liberty ROM, although they work hand in hand.
