Left Droid in the rain---deals out there?

I left my phone in the rain after playing with my son on the trampoline yesterday. I think the phone is done. It was the Droid 1 and it was all hacked, which I am going to miss for sure. I do not have insurance and I need to replace the phone and wonder if anyone knows any deals going on to replace the phone? Also, should I go for the Droid2 or the DroidX, recommendations?

If you want a physical keyboard, the D2 is your best bet. The DX is a bigger phone, but it's awesome, too.

Yeah, it sucks for sure. I loved my Droid. I had the phone customized the way I wanted it and it was overclocked and everything. I haven't been on the forums in a bit though. Is the Droid X or the Droid 2 able to be rooted yet? Are there known issues with the Droid X or Droid 2? Anyone know of a good deal out there??

1) Are you still under contract and not eligible for one of the renewal deals? If you can grab one of the 2yr renew contracts, Best Buy and Amazon both have quite a few phones for free (Droid X, Droid 2 Global..etc) all throughout December.

2) If you aren't able to do that, check Craigslist in your area. My wife had a similar problem (left it in her gym bag next to a wet towel) and found a replacement Droid 1 for $65.

3) On a Blackberry before my droid, I had one stop working after getting damp from just being at a football game even though it was in my pocket. The water damage indicator on the battery had went bad although the one in the actual phone was fine. A Verizon rep at the store looked at it and basically told me to buy an OEM battery off the internet and bring it back to him and he'd warranty it. So I found a battery for like $8 shipped and the guy at the store swapped out for another phone.

Just a few options. Hope it helps!

Yes I know you can root the x and incredible...and prolly the d2, but the booting into recovery process is a little different I believe. Check ebay for top rated sellers and for phones with clean esn's. You may have to get a used one there.
