Asurion droid replacement Question

Droidlife

I have the original Droid and have asurion insurance which I have been paying for monthly. I have calling problems (when I'm in a call with someone, it's very bad quality, sometimes I cannot make out what people are saying) and there is a large crack on the screen.

I heard with this insurance they will replace my phone, but since the Droid 1 is no longer in production, What will it be replaced with? And if there are multiple replacements, can I choose which one I want?

Anyone else know?

I'd really like to know what replacement they give me. Would really appreciate someone who has gone through this replacement process or knows 100% what they give you for a droid one. Thanks.

Droid X

So I looked online and there were a few websites saying they offer the droid X or incredible in place of the original droid....Is this correct? I would love a Droid X as my replacement if thats possible

If you place a claim and there are no Original Droids to offer, they will offer you a devour/eris, ask to speak to a Supervisor and you might get an Incredible

Although I have not placed a claim on my Droid, I did call and press the subject when people were in question a few months ago of what they were replacing the Original D with...I was offered an Incredible

I doubt a DX will ever be offered, possibly a D2 though

As far as I know, and reading multiple threads on this subject, it seems to me tha there's still some original droids being sent out to people for replacements and then Dinc and Droid 2s are what I'm also reading about..just look at the threads on the homepage, as far as a devour goes, I've read where one person was told that's what they were getting after callling asurion. I've done my own research and called asurion myself, and I'm sure it'll depend on who you get and what time, but I was told that if my phone was malfunctioning my choice would include the Dinc, so try calling first before you make an actual claim

Tried calling them

I tried calling them but they asked for my number, Should I give it to them? I would not want them making a claim for my phone when I just have questions.

They will not make an official claim until you authorize it, it is safe to give them your number, they just want to make sure you are a customer before they waste their time answering your questions

Just went thru this a couple weeks ago with a cracked screen. Now the droid 1 they sent me is having some issues. (Screen goes blank and unresponsive, a whole different conversation) so I called and they said they would get me another one sent right out. Then he says they have no droids in stock so they can offer me an eris or a devour. I'm like NO I want a phone that is at least as good as what I have. He says droid 1's are on back order and I'll have to wait 7-10 days to 3 weeks then. Well long story short I was on the phone with them for a good 20 minutes with him and his supervisor and they would not even consider giving me anything else. Supervisor told me if they gave me an incredible then Verizon wouldn't reimburse them for the phone because thats the agreement they have. I was in control of my emotions but I let them know how sorry of service that was and all the supervisor said was hopefully being able to tell her that made me feel better but she still couldn't do anything for me. she tried to tell me the eris and devour had all the same features as my droid. So today they send me an email saying my droid is available. When I try to complete the information on their site it pops up and says I have to call which I do and get a lady that doesn't speak the best English but I get through it then at the end of the call she asks for my credit card # which they didnt ask for the first time, I found that odd and questioned her and she said thats ok you don't have to give it to me if you dont want to. Not a good experiance this second time and I really dont trust someone that asks for my card # when everything is already tied to my Verizion account anyway and then she admits that she doesnt need it to complete the transaction. I thought by paying for this ins I wouldn't have to be without a phone since I use it for my business but after this I have a lot less confidence in that thought. LCH

You're a better man than I. If a rep told me the Devour or Eris had all the same features or capabilities as my Droid 1, I do believe I would jump through the phone line and strangle them.

I've heard of people getting dincs for replacements, but most seem to be offered Devours or Erises.

Has anyone tried using this to get out of their contract and ETF? I mean, the insurance was to replace your phone with one of equal or better quality/capability, and obviously, the Devour/Eris fall far short of that. Therefore, Asurion/Verizon are not living up to their end of the bargain and you, as the consumer, should have the right to terminate your contract yes?

So i did it lastnight and on the website it said the Motorola DROID standard was its exact words, the woman i spoke with said that on her computer it has droids in stock but she don't know if they actually have them or if they're sending something different. she also said she don't know if it would be refurbished and i would have to speak to someone in the warehouse(doesn't answer their phone) so im just waiting until tomorrow to see what comes in the mail. if its refurb, im sending it back because why pay 90 dollars for a used(recently broken) phone.

I lost my original droid about 3 weeks ago. I called asurion and I was told the Droids were in fact out of stock and they could put me on a waiting list. Not having a phone at the time....I asked what are my other options. She offered me the Eris, I declined.....then was offered the Devour. I declined that since the screen was smaller, camera was had no LED and was only a 3mp. Then I was put on hold, and she came back and offered to keep me on the waiting list or accept the Droid Incredible. To be honest.....as a non-rooted person....I love this phone more than the droid. I never ever used that cheesy flat, afterthought of a keyboard anyways. All I can say is if they dont have a Droid to replace you with......keep pressing till they offer you a phone same as or better than your Droid.

My wife and I were at the fair a couple weekends ago and her droid fell out of her pocket and plumitted a good 60 feet to the concrete....amazing thing is..it broke the the rubber case she had on it and dented the corner of it...the screen was a little loose and wouldn't open all the way, but the phone was fully functional other than the physical keyboard. I was amazed that the phone withstood that type of fall. I digress...I called asurion, they sent her a refurb droid 1...said they have plenty in stock now. Good luck. This was on 9/4 by the way.....
