lastfm want write access to my contacts - why?

I got to the permissions screen on the lastfm install and realized it wanted both read AND write permission to my contacts. Why the heck should it need that? I was just expecting to be able to sey up a userid. It shouldn't need my phone list.

Last.fm give you the option to sync contacts from last.fm

It can sync your lastfm friends with your contacts, so you can see what they've been listening to, and how "in sync" your music tastes are right in your contacts list.
