Jelly Bean RAZR/MAXX Christmas 2012 Update?

So far, no indication that it is in this release.

David

C'mon Verizon or Motorola or whomever...activate the nfc chip already. Maybe when they do the "official" ota it'll happen. I'm not holding my breath though. I'll probably rarely use it if they do give us the feature but it's one of those things that you just wanna have.. I guess for bragging rights because I know a lot of people who have iPhones and think it's a pretty cool feature.

Just think...if it wasn't for that commercial about how the Dad is going away and the kids made him a video to watch on the plane and the wife made him one too...but he shouldn't watch it on the plane... then they bump phones, tap the screen and the taxi drives off. If it wasn't for that commercial and one or two others then nobody would care or really know about nfc.

Dave does the nfc chip get enabled with this leak? If so is it working for file transfer from phone to phone?

Thanks
Red

Is it confirmed that the RAZR maxx has a NFC chip? I would have thought that if it did someone would have hacked it by now.

There have been a couple articles and teardowns of the Razr/Razr Maxx indicating that a NFC controller chip is present but the firmware lacks the code to run it (presently). I posted a couple links in the past related to it. I'll see if I can find them and link to them again.

I was dying when I saw that on TV. Lol

There is no NFC Chip in the RAZR or RAZR Maxx

Correct. You can use Bluetooth transfer, but without the NFC chip, you're stuck. There are a variety of NFC MicroSD Cards available now simply enter "NFC MicroSD" into a Google search and you'll see plenty. I have no knowledge of how well they work but if you're in need, it may be worth a try.

Did a search and only found them available in 1gb cards. Seen somebody mention an 8gb version, but the function alone wouldn't make it worth losing that much space. Bluetooth transfer works like a charm and is relatively quick. Id rather stick to that.

I'm a very heavy user and I finally took the leap a couple days ago to Jelly Bean and I am very impressed I can make 10 hours with extreme heavy use like constant games, listening to music via Bluetooth, and texting and Facebook every once and a while. I usually only get 5 hours sometimes 7 hours if I stretch out the time I internet browse. But whatever they did they fixed a whole lot. There is no lag what so ever, that is all gone. Then they did a couple minor touch ups that you will notice but honestly the biggest thing is the smoothness. That is something you will notice the second you unlock the screen and everything is done loading. Everything moves with flow and you never so any issues. I give them A+ on this one.
