Jelly Bean RAZR/MAXX Christmas 2012 Update?

No root, running stock JB "update", no underclocking, no special battery apps.... just following FoxKats advice. I do use smart actions sleep mode at night which turns off background data. I use my phone regularly during the day too. Moderate amount of texting, calling, internet. Even daily streaming music over wifi then bluetooth to my logitech BT receiver.

Things I have done: Set screen brightness to auto and checked battery saver. Set weather sync to 6 hours. Killed the facebook process ( a big battery hog). Set my pictures to auto upload only on wifi when plugged in. I also turned off the feature in "gallery" to see others pictures (another big battery hog).

Once a week I let it drain down to about 30%, turn it off and let it charge overnight. The rest of the time I charge it with it turned on - about every other day now.

Funny thing though is I've thought from the start I got a "good" phone because I really haven't had a lot of the other problems I've seen posted on the forums.

Did a lot of the same things on my wife's Samsung Stratosphere and she sees similar results, as opposed to our son who won't let me tinker with his phone and has to charge twice a day. :D

I feel that I got a "good" phone also, but I'm not getting the battery life you are. Of course, I don't have my phone set up exactly like yours, with the same power saving features. I am also not running JB yet, but hope to be very soon when they send it out OTA.

What all did you do to save your battery life, or is it just what you listed here??

Can you describe what you mean by "checking battery saver", "killed the Facebook process", and what Gallery feature are you referring to about seeing other pictures?

In Screen settings under brightness, there is a check box for "Display Battery Savings" that I checked.

For gallery, I had unchecked "Display Friends Pictures" (or something like that) but apparently that setting is no longer present in JellyBean.

To kill facebook, I go into running apps under manage apps and stop all the FB processes. I don't use FB that much on my phone so I may actually disable the process alltogether.

Heres some screen captures of what I have set.

Screen brightness is the single best thing you can regulate to save battery power... it's always the #1 battery hog amongst all things.

See I use my phone alot, and have automatic brightness on, but my Maxx doesn't seem to last nearly that long. Currently I'm at 50% with 7 hours 35 minutes of use. I end my browser and Facebook sessions when I'm done, and that's all I've used all day.

One thing I've never quite understood on a phone. How do you close your programs? How would you end your Facebook session? I tap the Home button to get back to my home screen but I presume it's still running. Does a long press on the Home butting, bringing up all of your apps and swiping them off the screen close them or how is it suppose to be done?

Before JB I always went into the Running Apps menu, selected the app, and Forced Closed it. Now, I just use my battery monitor on my circles widget, tap on Facebook, and Force Close it there.

Did you by chance use something like All-in-One Toolbox to kill off apps that automatically start with your phone? I'd be interested in seeing what IS running on your phone at boot. I believe All-in-One Toolbox lists a lot of things tied to other things making them not so obvious what they do or if they're processes that would show up in the list of Running programs. I also just discovered something called ZDBox that I haven't tried out, but it seems to have many more ratings.

What Circles widget? Can't seem to find it.

Here's a screen shot of the Circles widget:

Side loading is another form of installing an application. I'll see if I can find the link for you.

Jelly Bean Razr/Maxx Christmas 2012 Update

Yes, I installed the update on 12/25/12 and can no longer sync my email nor can I delete my email and reinstall it. Also I cannot use any free wifi tethering app since the update, plus I am getting several other error messages regarding Facebook and some Verizon program vmm. I have the Droid Razr Maxx and the new os is 4.1.2 and the build number is 9.8.20-72_VZW-8

Dave does the nfc chip get enabled with this leak? If so is it working for file transfer from phone to phone?

Thanks
