JB update sucking my Maxx battery dry.

It is out and you will get it if you go back to 211. There is already an update out for those of us on HD's to make our version up to date version wise with the one released to Maxx and Razr owners. You can postpone it if you want or just stay on 215 if you have reservations. I liked it when I put the Christmas leak on my Maxx and I liked 215 before that. I had no issues with either version on my Maxx. I have to wonder if those having issues with it had issues prior to the upgrade. Seems like that is the case most times.

Yeah, that's what my fear is about upgrading to JB. But I might go and load it later today. Thanks for the feedback, hopefully when I roll back I get an update notice.

You will get ota after going back to 211...that is what I did...I manually checked for update after roll back and it was there first try.

I did FDR before update...updated... rooted...did the sqlite WiFi trick...zero problems.

I don't have any battery issues. I use apex launcher (which I had before update). I did use go SMS before but the stock app is growing on me so have not gone back to it (yet) haha.

I didn't have the battery issue before the update and neither did others posting on thus thread, that's why it says JB is sucking my battery dry and not my battery has always been bad

My Maxx had no battery issues before or after the update. I find it hard to believe it is the update that caused it. Could it not be an app that does not work well in JB and is causing the issue? Is it also possible you need to do a battery meter calibration after the update? There are just as many who are having no issues with battery after the update as well. I know everyone always suggest an FDR after a major update too, I have never done one and have not experienced these issue others seem to have.

I'm happy for you that you don't have any issues. But the issues others are having are real. If we knew the cause, then this thread would stop. It very well may be some app(s). All we know is that something changed with the update that made some of our batteries have significantly less life and the whole point of this thread is to try and get to the bottom of it.

Since the upgrade, I have had mixed battery performance. At first, it was great. Then, I had a couple of days where the phone was warm, and the battery appeared to be draining very fast. Yesterday, I had a "normal" usage day and I am still at 20% at 1030 am today. My phones has not felt warm since late Wednesday night. I've attached my battery stats. Just before I read your post, I was looking at them thinking that the OS was using a good bit of CPU time, and sending a lot of data. Not sure what it was doing...

To me, that seems to be a huge difference from ics, Android OS is using way more than it used to. I am nowhere near smart enough to figure out why.

For me the Kernal is using 59 - 69% of the battery. Maps is 2nd with 8-9% consistantly. Cache, battery monitor calibration and FDR all completed. 30% decline in battery performance.

I'm just suprised that Email is not closer to the top of the list. I have it syncing 3 accounts. Gmail, Comcast, and corporate exchange (which they fixed in JB. ICS kept losing sync. Sans Serif font is still transmitted with serifs, though).

I found the solution. In my case, the problem was the battery widget. On the day when I updated android, I updated too battery widget to the PRO version. After uninstalling everything was back to normal. The battery back to the old condition (4 d.). Problematic application in my case is "Battery Widget Reborn"

Once all else is fixed....after the phone has been idle for awhile you'll notice kernel being the process that used the most % battery. That's because almost all other processes halt when the phone sleeps. After you start using the phone again you'll see that number decrease as other processes are using battery as well. Kernel runs all the time, like your heart beating even while you sleep.

Hang in there, folks. I still haven't reinstalled all of the apps that I was running under ICS so I can't tell you which one it was, but my issues were app related as well. As you can see, I got 50 hours out of one recent charge, and I'm on hour #28 on my current charge. I have 2 hours of screen time, and 2 hours 33 minutes playing music and I still have 40% charge left.
