I got confused because verizon has already put up how to download the ota on the support page for the droid 2 however it wouldn't download for me...kept saying my device was up to date...so I called verizon to find out if in fact it had just been released but the told me 2.3.20 was the current version availiable...guess they just wanted to fool someone...lol

The update won't be available for a week or two. 2.3.20 is the current system version. 2.2 is the current Android version.

What I wanna know is how to get root back if I update from 2.2 stock.

I have a feeling this OTA update will fry the root I have, and I was reading something that made it sound like Gingerbread's a ***** to root.

I guess you can just count me among the panicked masses. :p

There is no root for the GB OTA because it hasn't been released. Once it's released, it may be rooted, but even that can't be guaranteed.

Also, you can almost guarantee it's going to kill root on 2.2.
