imei number is messed up, how do i fix it

I just bought a droid off of craigslist and went to activate and the imei number is messed up, its "zeroed out" is what someone told me, I have the original one on a sticker on the phone and verizon said it was clean. How do I fix it? It has been rooted if that helps. thanks

Zeroed out generally means that it is not active in the Verizon system and therefor is ready to be activated. When you called Verizon did you ask them to activate it? If not do so then dial *228, followed by the prompt to press 1. Then it will activate and you should be all set.
