If you could only have/recommend 5 APPS ?

1. Handcent SMS - better messaging app
2. i music - search and download music
3. Mototorch LED - turns your Droid flash into LED flashlight (a must for all droid users)
4. Pandora - online radio
5. cal widget - turns your reg calendar into customizable widgets

i don't get the people that are obsessed wtih these task killers. lol. what a waste, especially if you only have 5 apps. what's the point??

1. Docs to Go.
2. Pandora
3. Nesoid
4. Barcode Scanner/Shop Savvy
5. SportsTap

in that order - pretty much everything else i need is handled in the browser.

Hey novacane. What app gives you that little "to do" task list, wash the car, mail presents, etc?
to do list: gtasks. syncs with your online to do list.
wash your car: google goggles. finds you a place to put your car to be washed. :D
mail presents: amazon. nuff said.

Hey novacane. What app gives you that little "to do" task list, wash the car, mail presents, etc?

It's a program called Astrid, it's a free task manager in the Marketplace. Also they are trying a way to display it with the pure calendar widget but I haven't tried that myself yet.

Other than native apps (Maps, etc)

Voice Dialer HF (finally "HF" Voice dialing and Voice controlled apps)
Button Shortcut (map any app to camera button, currently using above app)
TriCorder... too fun, yet has real info, compass etc.
MotoTorch(LED flashlight) - used it tons of times, even used to re-aim Satellite Dish at night
ShopSavvy - VERY handy

Top 5 is not enough, change to top 10 would be more realistic or easier to chose.

928-I searched for "handsfree ht" in the market, but did not find anything. Did I misunderstand the source?

Thanks

In no particular order:

Google Listen - Podcast streamer
AK Notepad - Note pad for quick notes
Pandora - Pandora
OI Safe - Encrypted password keeper (I'm in IT and I have ~100 for various systems/ websites.)
AP Mobile - Best all around news reader.

Pandora - Excellent radio
Keeper Mobile - Password keeper -essential!
Advanced Task Killer Free
Astrid - Pop-up reminders
#5 keeps changing... ShopSavy? Barcode Scanner? Superpages? SpareParts? Others are good too... fun to try them all! :)

Great posts, thanks everyone. It gives me some choices I need to look at. I already have a couple like Handcent and Weatherbug...oh ya Pandora too.

5 Favorite Apps

1. Adv Task Manager - able to shut down backround programs easily and delete

apps not wanted. (Dragging them to the "trash" does not delete app just

icon.) Better than TasKiller and Adv Task Killer.

2. Weather channel - simple way to get local weather (also use Radar Now occ)

3. BatteryLife - easy way to keep track of phone life.

4. SportsTap - Easy way to check scores etc.

5. LastFM - listen to music and seems to be less drain on battery life than

some other more popular music channels.

By the way 5a. should be AppManager, so you can save all your information

in case you have to fix something with a "Factory data reset".

Another list of my new 5 Favorite Apps

1. Car Home - Maps, Navigation, Contacts and Search - you can take some

of the individual apps off the home screen

2. Where - short cut to yellow pages, weather, news, shopping offers, gas

stations etc.

3. T V Guide - local tv listings etc.

4. CalWidget - works with Calender and puts your reminders on home screen

5. Any Cut - allows creation Home screen shortcuts

In no particular order, and ignoring native apps:

SNESoid (the paid version)
Seesmic (I assume Twidroid Pro could replace this, but I like Seesmic and it's free)
NewsRob
Handcent
Home++

Honorable mentions to:

Astrid
Dolphin
Pandora
Astro File Manager
Google Voice
