Ice Cream Sandwich officially announced, coming in Q4

Google today officially announced at IO the next iteration of Android, labeled Ice Cream Sandwich. This is going to be an operating system combining the tablet OS and the phone OS. It is one operating system that manufacturers will be able to put on any device.
They showed off different devices that are currently running Android and the need for one OS to be able to power any form factor.
Google said that Ice Cream Sandwich will be released in Q4.

That's great news - but my question is how soon that OS will be available to the developers of custom roms. Having multiple rooted android phones, all rooted and all having custom roms, I'm not interested in OTA updates.

Could this have anything to do with the Bionic's delay? Probably not, but I would be willing to wait a few months if that meant the phone launched with Ice Cream.

I wonder if it will take more than a 1ghz single core to run the OS properly?

I don't believe there are any Gingerbread ROMs for the Thunderbolt yet. I'm still waiting on it, too.

Are there any phones besides the Nexus S that even have 2.3 yet, nevermind 2.4?!
