I have 2-3 of each contact

Basically each of my contacts have 2-3 each. I have deleted the extras before but they keep coming back. How can i remove my gmail contacts from my phone and just stick with the backup assistant.

I had the same problem. I did manually delete a copy yesterday and so far they have stayed deleted.
