I do miss my Blackberry battery life, which was on the order of days to a week... but all the thing did was email and calendars... all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
EDIT: To contribute to the OP question, Exchange emails are really quick, there are also options to have gmail operate other email accounts in a push type manner, although I've heard this isn't very effective. Otherwise forward your emails to your gmail account. I have my emails all setup to check every 5 mins with no problems.
