HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

The more I read the more I think Verizon is setting us all up. I think they are going to push this to the end of March or even into the second quarter with the "oh the 3g/4g system can't handle it" BS they knew the capabilities of the network and the demands of the TB so this newest "explaination" (if it is true) sounds like bull to me. Verizon is playing games and trying to build hype in hopes of increasing sales. Like I said, verizon really does not care about thier existing customers, they are only interested in gaining new customers and increasing the market share.

I think the anger/frustration comes solely from being teased and kept in the dark by the major players, and them not correcting all the misinformation being spread out there in the blogosphere. There would be no issue at all if they had just given us a date to count on at some point, even if it was in March, but instead they allowed everyone to keep their hopes alive in anticipation, gaining free marketing in the process. But it sounds like that was not even possible because they really had no idea themselves when it would be ready with all the various rumors of issues this phone has experienced along the way. Also, I would be completely happy using this phone 3G only for the time being if possible, but I understand they would not want to release it until LTE was fully ready since that is their major marketing point with the phone.

But what if it actually can't handle it? I mean, we already know AT&T's network isn't handling it. Atrix gets 1.35mbps down, .15mbps up in Engadget's speed tests. If that's what I get with the Thunderbolt then I'll be very upset. I still say the 28th at BB.

FWIW (which i am sure is not much) Spent a lot of time at BB with a reasonably knowledgeable rep. today. They were trained last week by an HTC rep and are thinking the 24th but making no promises.

At this point, I think it is safe to say that no one can feel comfortable listening to anything any Verizon or Best Buy rep has to say about this device, they are all clueless and speculating just as we are. The only thing I will believe is either: a press release from Verizon, a change to the Verizon website indicating release, or when I see it on the store shelves. Anything else is just vapor.

It will come out when it comes out. I don't get the anger towards HTC/Verizon.

Its not like they sold you the phone already and said "wait a month" for service... I mean seriously, if having to wait makes you consider other options, what do you do for going out to eat?

If Bonefish has a line, do you cancel dinner plans and go to McDonalds?????

No, I ask how long the wait is, and they TELL ME, and then I wait. I've never once went to a restaurant and have them tell me a table is "Coming soon"

Yup. I've left many times to go find a shorter line/ better CS.

Careful... I got flamed the last time I called the Thunderbolt "vaporware" :)

The device exists, and it will come out eventually, I was referring to any statements by any employee, short of something "official" from corporate.

I could not agree more. The constant tease (and Verizon knows its going on) is what ticks me off. If they would just give us a date, even if it is in March, then fine. This rollercoaster is just ridiculous.

With all the hype and free publicity the TB is getting, wouldn't it be awesome if they did a silent launch!
