Application integration isn't half baked. the device is fine if it shipped. Tango will work for now. Both articles are from today, but ones about a mock and the one saying skype isn't available also says htc thunderbolt available now. Anyone still on the 24th boat with me?

Skype not available at launch = who cares? It won't be a big deal until a lot of people have it on their phones and have LTE in their areas. A simple software update sometime after launch should do the trick.

The interesting thing about that screen shot is that it says the Thunderbolt is "now available." Don't know whether to believe that, or what jayishere said over at androidforums that his toolkit says it was delayed with a correction notice for the BB ad. Hopefully that "delay" he referred to just means it will not be ready to go on sale Sunday (as the ad implies), but will be sometime this week, by Thursday at the latest. I definitely don't want to have to wait until next Monday or later.

PS Thanks for the kudos sansavi

No half baked products please! Launch the device when it is solid..

Skype not being ready @ launch has nothing to do with the TB being half baked. Even if I was worried about having it, I'd rather get my phone without it and get to play around with it while they work the app out.

On a side note I finally pre-ordered, #2 @ my local BB!

You can be a Verizon apologist all you want, at&t simply won my business for being up front about it's latest Android device. Good luck with Verizon...

I am no VZW apologist. I'm in Chicago, in several parts of the metro area 3G drops to EDGE for no apparent reason. AT&T's network SUCKS. I have yet to drop a call on VZW and I have had them since Nov 7 2009.

When I made my post, my AT&T corporate account manager had NO details on availability of the Atrix, yes that has changed NOW but when I made that post there was no information available.

Good luck with AT&T, good luck with a top tier of 4GB max for $45 a month. Have fun. Don't let the door hit you in the rear on your way out of the forums.

I cannot believe that any sane and logical person would jump carriers over not knowing exactly when a new phone will be available. MAybe it is the iPhone, who really cares? For 4 years VZW customers complained that the iPhone was only available on AT&T and not VZW. Many iPhone customers also complained that they were stuck on AT&T and had no choice in the US. Do *I* care about the iPhone? No. But good heavens, let VZW push the iPhone for a couple weeks. There was obviously a lot of effort put into this release, give them their 14 days to recoup some of the costs of 4 years of negotiations.

Aww, no reason to get frustrated. I'm sure the Thunderbolt will be released someday. Where I live, Verizon is pretty lousy and I was thinking about the TB in hopes that someday it would get better. I found, waiting for some sort of release date on the TB, that there's no sense in that - get the phone that is the best fit for you right now.

I'm glad I did - I'm not paying $45/month for 4GB data - I'm keeping my unlimited data plan for $35/month. I don't have to pay for tethering because I'm not buying the stupid laptop dock. And as a premier customer, I'm getting the Atrix for $99. On top of that, I've used AT&T for 2 years without a single problem - I wish they had better nationwide coverage and LTE, but that's something I can live with for at least another 2 years until I can reassess the situation.

My only point to you was there's no reason to make excuses for Verizon. I'm not going to make any for AT&T - I'm paying them, and I will criticize all the idiotic billing practices, their requirements, their data caps, overpriced accessories - whatever, they're a corporation and I will criticize them. I'm not sure why anyone would bother jumping to Verizon's defense then over the Thunderbolt delays - or at least a lack of an announcement. I don't think it's fair to consumers, you said your piece about how Verizon doesn't owe us anything. I think they - and at&t - do.

@Effington: Verizon told us Q1 of 2011. We're still in Q1, and nothing has been said about the phone being delayed past Q1. Just because blogs and other stores (Best Buy) have been giving rumors of a release date doesn't mean the phone has been delayed or anything.

I think I already said this before, but I believe if you had coverage well enough to be a Verizon customer, then you would jump ship immediately. I could be wrong, but hey who would rather be an AT&T customer when you have Verizon service in your area?

Verizon has done nothing wrong, and I stand by that and know that many others agree. Most people are furious at Best Buy/Droid-Life/Android Central/any one who leaked pictures because all that has done is create speculation of a "possible" release date.

If Verizon was a woman, you'd be pretty upset she's been leading you on all this time...

The point I make, over and over, is that the least Verizon can do is at least say "Hey, it should be here by Date xx, maybe even sooner."

I don't know what kind of a BS company allows pre-orders on a phone with no release date (or price tag, which as far as I know also has not been officially announced in anything other than leaked Best Buy fliers). Yeah, maybe most of the blame is on Best Buy. Who knows, who cares, "Verizon has done nothing wrong." Of course. I don't see what's so hard about announcing a date, even if it's arbitrary. The phone is clearly out there, with test unites, marketing materials, and - I have to assume - Best Buy was told that pre-ordered Thunderbolts would be available on February 14.

So how many of you gave Best Buy an interest free $50 loan last weekend?

Thats simply not true.Bb had a release date for feb 14.Thats a fact

Best Buy says "come on in and plunk down $50 for your brand new HTC Thunderbolt which we don't have a final price for, but it will be here February 14 - which is, of course, subject to change."

lol

I'll repeat. Verizon said Q1 of 2011. It is Q1 currently, and will be until April 1, 2011.

"May be sooner than we expected" doesn't mean that it should have been out by now or in the next week. Maybe they thought mid to late March as most sources originally said, so earlier than that is "sooner than expected."
