HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

Here's the way I see it guys: I already pre-ordered mine. I'll go into BB on Monday to see if I can pick up my phone or not yet. They may have them in stock in the back, they may not. They may be willing to sell it to me early, they may not. If Verizon has told them not to start selling it before they do, then they might get in trouble for doing this. But if Verizon didn't, then there's no problem as long as they are in stock. If they don't sell it to me that day, I will complain and try to get a free case out of it, claiming reliance. And if that's the case, boo hoo, I'll just wait until the 24th (if BB doesn't call me before that). It's not a big deal, I've already been waiting many months. I will get it on a 2-year contract, and partake in BB's free buyback program (which ends the 26th), that way the lack of a 1-year contract at BB becomes irrelevant (actually, the buy back is a better deal).

You can pretty much count on the 24th at Verizon (maybe not BB). Boy Genius Report and Phil from Android Central are very confident in this date. They have valid inside information and typically don't share rumors unless they are true. Blackmanx confirmed this date as well. To me, that's a lock. I know some of you are skeptical and disagree, and that's fine, you are free to do so. But be prepared to eat some crow, as will I if I'm wrong.

For those that can't wait for an official announcement and are thinking of getting something else, don't. You will be greatly let down. Nothing available right now is worth it, they all have end of life dates at the end of March. For those of you waiting for the Bionic to come out, get the TB, unless you really like Blur and lock-down or think you NEED dual core (which you don't yet, for reasons we've already discussed and I won't get into here). Anything else coming down the pipeline in the next several months will not compare to the TB (eg. Samsung Stealth, LG Revolution, HTC Incredible 2, Motorola Droid 3).

it's not that I can't sell my droid until I get another phone. Now if I could buy the thunderbolt and see if one of my parents wants the droid.

Just called 611, option 5, option 4, billing password, got a rep and asked if she had a release date for the HTC ThunderBolt.

Said they haven't gotten any information yet. I asked her if they had any information on the phone at all and she said she has gotten other calls about the ThunderBolt today, but they don't have any information.

And the reasons why it is $50 more than a lot of other smartphones is probably because of the included 32GB microSD card. Check out the link. It is worth it for sure.

SanDisk® microSDHC

Still a lot better than the $100 difference between iPhone 16GB and 32GB .
Anybody found out how much the battery lasts ?

Nobody knows for sure yet until we get our hands on them. It varies because different users use their phones more, and use more battery hogging apps. Could be fine for some, could be lacking for others. Rumors from VZW employees who have handled the device indicate that battery life will be the one thing where customers might be disappointed. I will say this, I will definitely be looking into a Seidio extended battery. I just hope it doesn't make the phone super thick and still allows for use of a case. I've never used an extended battery, so I don't really know about that.

Wish we could edit in here, need to add something. The TB is supposed to have better battery life than the Incredible and the EVO, because it has the second generation snapdragon processor and a smaller die (reduced from 65nm to 45nm). This is supposed to help with battery life and overheating. So we'll just have to wait and see.
