HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I call shenanigans - if the Thunderbolt arrives before March, I'll eat my Blackberry.

Yeah I look forward to that, BestBuy, EVEN TODAY is still saying the 14th, and some BestBuys have the phone in their "back area" already. Why are you guys saying the 24th? That's probably for Verizon stores, if BestBuy says the 14th, it's the ****ing 14th, they don't make **** up.

Jimmyco, my local best buy says they don't have a release date yet. What do you say to that?

Well some BestBuys say this, so I really don't know, but they wouldn't make up a date.... It almost sounds like you want the phone to come out two weeks from now instead of Monday?

And I followed a link regarding a possible April release, that is almost certainly for that unnamed HTC phone, the so-called Droid Incredible 2. People have the ThunderBolt RIGHT NOW, go to youtube, there are unboxings, FCC has to approve before people can get their hands on it like that, they clearly approved the phone awhile ago. Come on, do you really think the TB is delayed until April? Don't believe everything you hear, now the same can be applied to this post, but maybe we should just wait until Monday?

I just went to Best Buy today to pre-order my TB. I told the salesperson I ordered it from about the rumors on here, going back and forth between the 14th and 24th. I said I thought the 24th was more likely because of possible iPhone returns. She seemed to think it would be out sooner at BB (maybe not VZW stores), but was very hesitant to commit to a 14th date (or any date for that matter). I was merely told that I would be notified when I could come pick it up. I think she was just referring to the internal documents she read. Like I said before, their internal documents said 2/14, "subject to change." This was never a hard release date. Verizon will tell BB when they can start selling the phone, even if they already have boxes of them in the back or get them this weekend. That would be sweet if it came out Monday, and I'll be there, but I'm not holding my breath.

I agree, that FCC filing we saw earlier today was probably not the TB, more likely the Incredible 2 (or whatever it will be called). The TB has already passed the FCC testing earlier this week (not a long time ago). A phone must pass the FCC before it can GO ON SALE. Testers, reviewers, gadget blogs, etc. may get their devices much sooner than that. There is no way the TB will be delayed until April. The very latest we will see it is the first week of March, but I don't even think it will be that long. It's ready to go, as blackmanx made clear (kind of) in a recent tweet.

I did the same thing, and they said Monday is still on and I can go get it first thing Monday morning. I asked about it being delayed and was told its not delayed with them. So yeah I guess we will see monday morning.

For what it's worth, I just pre-ordered and the BB rep said that they pushed the release date to the 23rd or 24th. He said it had something to do with hotspot issues, but that supply could also be a problem since some stores had them but theirs did not.

I'd imagine 4g areas got the first supply. I am not in one.

He also said the free buyback promo is three weeks long, and would not apply if the phone comes out after that date or if you make the purchase after that date.

I would be more than happy to see a 14th of February release, but like I posted earlier: having the first 4G LTE smartphone from Verizon drop less than a week after an official announcement FROM Verizon would be extremely surprising and horrible marketing on Verizon's part.

Spot on. I think this Sunday is the earliest we start seeing TBolt commercials, and like you said it would be a little surprising to see launch just 4 days later. I'd expect at least a week or two to let the marketing and hype percolate a bit.

If the rumor that Apple won't let VZW re-sell IPhone returns at full retail, then, small as that number likely would be, don't expect the TBolt to start selling for at least 15 days after this Sunday.

just got on chat with best buy and asked when thunderbolt would arrive, here is what she said:

The phone was going to be available today, but they just launched the iphone 4 with verizon and so they are going to hold off on that for a little bit, you can pre order the phone in store for 50.00 right now, but it will probably be about 2 weeks before the phone launches

Yeah when I went to their live chat, my rep was CLUELESS. Some know, some don't. If anything was official, all the reps would know.

Yeah, why would she think it was going to be released today?? I have never heard anything (and would be dumb on verizon or bb part) of a release date of today when the other phone was released too. Starting to believe all the 24th hype tho, as much as it sucks.

Preorderd at BB today and the employee actually told me he was happy I saw the light and I'm getting this phone and not the other.lol.He also said it was releasing on V-day.This was in NYC(5th Ave)

Yeah well I knew for a fact they would never release the TB the same day as the iPhone, Apple almost certainly forbids it anyway.

And hey, guys, look, another confirmation for the 14th!

Maybe we aren't properly informed here, 24th for Verizon stores, 14th for BestBuy? Makes sense....

First question that you can't see was just asking when the ThunderBolt is going to be released from Best Buy. The rest you can see for yourself. Not sure how many Kim/Kimberlys are working at Best Buy
