I'm confused here, maybe somebody can shed some light on this situation. My phone line says I'm eligible for an upgrade on 04/03/11. Yet when I click upgrade to select a line, it states that my phone line can upgrade at discounted pricing. So I select my line and get to the phone selection screen and all the phones are showing a 2 year discounted price.

So here is where I can use as many opinions as possible, do you think best buy will be able to honor the upgrade that I can get online despite the phone line saying that I'm eligible on 04/03/11?

I am going to guess that you are in a 2 year contract and that you are up for the one year renewal for being the main line on the account?? If that be the case then you are eligible for the discount pricing and yes BB will see this too. You are not eligible for the NE2 discount on top of the subsidized pricing, but you can get the TB for $249.. Verizon, BB, Wirefly, Amazon.. they will all honor the one year agreement, but on your account it will show your upgrade date later. That date is when you will be able to get the NE2 discount on top of the subsidized. This being the last time you can have NE2 it is your choice if you wait.. Me.. I am going with the TB at the subsidized.. and loosing the NE2 credit..

So I called them back and.finally got an answer. They said that they will be taking preorders, but they just didn't have the info or paper work to take preorders yet but that they were expecting to get it this afternoon.

I just came back from Best Buy, pre-ordered my HTC Thunderbolt. It is a no obligation pre-order, you just buy a $50 gift card, and they "reserve" a phone for you at launch. They didn't take down any of my information or anything.

The bad news is that if the phone does come out on the 28th, the BB employee said I would not get the free buyback program because they sign you up for that when you buy the phone, not when you pre-order it.

The good news is he said he had an email from BB Corporate saying 2/14 is the launch date, and the manager referred to the date as a "hard launch date".

I guess we'll see -- anything can happen, but 2/14 isn't that far off.

I'm not eligible till the 17th, but I got an email from verizon like a week ago about the iphone pre-order and they said that there's lines on my account that ARE eligible for an upgrade - do you think I'd be able to pre-order?

just spoke to my local best buy and they checked my number into their system and said i am upgrade eligible through Verizon but i CAN use that eligibility through best buy and pre-order the phone

Well all of this speculation has been fun until now. What a bunch of CR@P. Pre-orders without a release date, no confirmed 4G plan price or confirmed contract price. I'll pass on information from the minimum wage earners at Best Buy.

I'll wait for a commercial during the Super Bowl tonight to confirm or will just deal with my D1 until the devices are in the VZW stores and user reviews are out. At this point I may wait it out for the Bionic.
