HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

a pre-order is sort of ridiculous...
(1) give us $50 and we will keep that money and make money off the interest
(2) I can't tell you when the phone will come in
(3) I can't tell you the data pricing for 4G (or may any other pricing)

Will they at least be able to tell you phone pricing?

At least when you drop pre-order money on something like a video game, you know how much it will be and when it will come in.

I'm sure the day they take preorders they will have phone & 4g pricing available.

No one else does that, but my post was in response to someone who was asking how the Thunderbolt compared favorably to the Bionic.

But besides that... whats so good about TB besides the 768 RAM and LTE?

I hear the camera sensor is quite nice. Also, I like the idea of a kickstand and the bigass external speaker. Plus it ships with Sense 2.0 instead of Motoblur.

Oh, and I know, how about not having a locked bootloader?

I don't mod phones so that's not a care for me. Thanks for the info though!

Spoke to the manager at Best Buy mobile last night. She said pre-orders were going to be tomorrow, and the phone would be on sale between the 14th and the 17th at 249.99 with an upgrade. I also asked about pricing and she said it would stay the same at 29.99. All I know is, is that I'm going tomorrow to pre-order it.

I'm eligible for upgrade since November and even though I hate my Moto Droid with a passion and I just can't wait for the day when I can take a hammer and smash the crap out of it , there is no way I'm gonna buy a single core phone right now with this wave of dual-core phones coming . It may not be well optimized yet , but I believe that sometimes in Q2-Q3 we gonna see a dual-core OS and than this phones will truly shine .

All of you are saying that the pre-order starts tomorrow for BB. I don't know how much of that I believe since verizon and BB has not said anything about it publicly. Why would a company launch a pre-order without telling anyone and hyping it up (like they did with the iPhone)? It don't make sense to me to pre-order tomorrow. If anything I think they would announce it tomorrow and pre-order monday (a week before the 14th release date that everyone is saying as well)

Also BB is getting the iPhone 4 so why would they get exclusives to the TB to release it before the actual VZW store does?

Huge BS if this is true. I'm not going to sit here and dog anyone or any users credibility on this site but I will vent about the news though. Screw waiting another two weeks for the TB because of the iPhone (I will still buy the TB regardless of how long it takes). Sounds like Big Red is acting like little biatches and climbing under the desk for Apple. I'm really starting to dis-like Verizon. I hope the iPhone fails miserably on Verizon's network.

Well.. it's not Verizon's job to keep YOU happy. They are in a business to make money.

Based on the iPhone breaking records in 2 hours of pre orders, extending the time is a good idea. It gives the iPhone the time to thrive on it's own. Then when the sales in it die down, they release the first LTE phone and sales are back up.

Probably because people are calling the stores and they are confirming it.

I know this is a little off topic but I read an article saying that the Thunderbolt and Samsung's LTE phone would be released on the same day. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? Also I'm having a hard time deciding between the two still but the specs on the Samsung all seem equal or better. The super amoled display, hdmi port, etc. Only thing I'm concerned about is how quickly they'll get updates out for it. Any input?

I would NEVER get a Samsung phone. Just look at the Fascinate, it's still on Eclair, or maybe it JUST NOW got Froyo? Either way, they are bad with updating phones. HTC has Sense and Sync, Motorola has Blur, Samsung has.... a pretty bad UI in my opinion.

But Verizon has repeatedly said the Thunderbolt is the first LTE phone, so I doubt a Samsung 4G phone will come out the same day as the TB, especially since there has been no "speculation" or threads about such a thing.

Yeah samsung's updating does suck from what I've heard and as for the UI touchwiz isn't too bad and I'd probably root it anyways but software aside I feel like samsung put a lot more into their hardware. It really pisses me off that htc decided to not put in a micro-hdmi port yet the evo has it which released last year. And I'm concerned about the camera too, htc camera's have always been pretty poor quality compared to the competition. Anyone who's read any comparison reviews/shots of the 5mp camera on the samsung epic knows that it blows the evo's 8mp out of the water and records nicer videos. So I'm almost certain the 8mp on the samsung lte will be worlds better than the 8mp on the tb. Htc seems to skimp on their sensors and it shows. Also anyone who's compared the epic to the evo knows the amoled display makes the evo's lcd look washed out and pretty poor in comparison. I know the thunderbolt will be a great phone but I feel like htc didn't do much more than update the processor on the evo and remove the hdmi port. Still debating but the hardware is making me lean towards the samsung

HTC ThunderBolt does not have an HDMI port, but it will have DLNA and an accessory to hook up to your tv, so it will accomplish the same thing if you want that capability. Not many people use either of those features anyway, at least not very often. The camera sensor on the TB is supposed to be much improved over the Inc and EVO. The screen on the TB (SLCD) is also upgraded from the EVO and Inc, so it won't look as washed out and will be brighter and crisper. Most everything on this phone is an upgrade from the EVO, I don't know why people keep saying it's just Verizon's version of it, they are quite different spec-wise aside from outer appearance.
