Htc Desire bricked or not?

I tried to root my htc desire but it doesnt seem to be havin it is there anyway i can return it to its factory default settings......
I turn it on and all i see is the HTC symbol and thats it....it doesnt go forward from that....
I tried the recovery thing under the clockwork but still the same thing
so im guessin my htc is bricked?
