How to go from 2.2 OTA to Custom Rom

I would like to try out a blurless ROM but I'm on the 2.2 OTA. Can someone please tell me how I can root my phone and then switch to a custom rom? Preferably a blurless one.

I'd go to google and search for 1click root for droid2/x it works well for me. On both d2 and dx. I have rooted both 2.1-2.2 leak, and now I have rooted OTA 2.2 all worked easily.

Do alot of reading so you setup all you need. Many dont like the blur apps so they move away from stock rom. I like it so I use the stock rom and just remove the few apps I dislike.
