How do I highlight multiple items in a list, such as email inbox.

Trying to clean up the inbox of my home email on my Razr. On my PC I can highlight multiple emails in my inbox by highlighting one of them and then moving to another, holding down Shift and left-clicking to highlight everything in between the two. Can that be done on the Razr? How?

What E-mail service are you using, stock, GMail?
I use both, and they both have a check box on the left side of each message which "selects" individual messages for deleting, archiving, etc.
In the standard stock client I don't see a setting for the check box, but in GMail there is the option to hide or show the check box. Also, there's the feature (I can't remember what it's called... someone remind me) where you can swipe your finger across a message in the message list (left or right) to delete a message, but I believe that only works in the stock E-mail app
