How big is Android 2.0 and how much room will there be for upgrades on the 512MB Rom? One of the things I hate about about every Win Mobile phone I've had is that the rom is sized for the current OS and it's hard to upgrade. Planned obsolescence.

No he's talking about the 256MB dedicated space for the OS itself and the dedicated apps the system itself runs.

I think there is 512mb of Rom for Android to use. I'm wondering how much of it is available for future versions of Android.

there is 512MB total space available. 256B dedicated solely for new apps, and 256MB dedicated solely to the system os and dedicated system apps. (If i am incorrect someone please correct me)

And with rumors that Android 2.1 will allow us to save apps to the SD card, memory should not be an issue.

With the possible addition of SD storage in 2.1, storage as state won't be an issue. From everything i've been told 256MB for dedicated OS space it more then enough, but that is just hearsay, so that it for what it's worth.

You can run a well designed package on as little as 16MB. (See Damn small Linux) So i doubt android is anywhere near 200MB
