The more function(s) a launcher gives you the more CPU cycles and thus power it's going to use. They are all pretty similar (last time I compared them). At any rate I highly doubt it's the launcher eating your battery (though widgets could if you have a lot of them). Try d/l something like WatchDog or something that will actually monitor what is using CPU cycles and battery power. I've used LP for a while and it never really registers as a big CPU or battery drain.

Check out Zeam launcher. Super small, smooth, but a few really nice features. In the market.
