Home page won't show landscape

For the first 2-3 days I had my Droid 2 the home screen would shift to landscape when I turned the phone to the left with the keyboard in. Now it won't unless the keyboard is out. I read some of the discussions that this is how it's programmed but I haven't found a definitive answer as to why it shifted to landscape for a few days but now does not.

Droid did the same thing. Motorola decided we didn't need it -- that's why. Get a different launcher if it's a must have.
