holding camera button while powering up

What exactly does this do? I have read so many incorrect explanations, I am confused. The main reason I ask is that my touchscreen only works correctly when I boot with the camera button held....BUT the phone will not charge. It is not safe mode, not a soft or hard reset....what is it?

not sure, maybe it disables hardware or drivers
may need a new flex cable or digitizer

Thanks for the reply... I have narrowed down the problem. This only happens when the phone is charging. And since it won't charge with the camera button thingy, the problem disappears. But it is definitely not a hardware issue since it works perfectly otherwise. It may be ann issue with the build of cm7 I am now running. I will post on that thread to see if anyone can duplicate it.

a bad charger can make, the phone do lots of unusual things, try a different charger
