Help!!! Updated my s3 and now my contacts aren't loading and more...

Hi All...

I am a novice droid user having only updated to one a few months ago.

I just updated my operating system... and now 2 things are not working:

1) My contacts won't load. When I try to open my contacts it says "contact list is being updated" with the progress circle underneath.... I wait and wait and nothing happens.

--What I have done so far - restarted the phone, and also went to settings>application manager>all>contacts>force stop/clear data/clear cache/ --- did not do a thing. I also live chatted with a samsung tech and they advised me to back up my data via Kies and do a hard reset.​

2) my main email account (a gmail account through my samsung email box) is not longer retrieving email.

Please help... doing a hard reset is traumatizing and I would like to avoid it! :frown:

Welcome to the forum. ..it sounds like the Gmail issue is what is messing with your contacts ..If you go to settings /accounts/Google ..tap on Google ..see what is checked on ..and hit sync now ...What does it show?
