HELP! Phone locked...

Put in a new unlock pattern, then I forgot it. I know, bonehead move. Anyways, now its asking for my gmail and pw. I don't know them, I never used it once I set it up. Google has no customer service. Verizon says they can't help me. I need help.

Have you forgotten your google user name completely? If so, your only option(I think) would be to boot into recovery and do a factory reset.

When you signed up for a gmail account it probably asked for an alternate e-mail to send lost password info. Try to login via Gmail on a PC or laptop and follow the "Password/User-ID Recovery" options (The one marked "Can't access your account?").

thats a security feature so people CANNOT access a phone that is locked.

After 1,000 tries I remembered my username. So now that I have that I went onto gmail and changed my PW. Ok still have a problem the damn phone needs the original PW when I created the account.

Oh yeah and it did ask for an alternate email, but you can choose to skip this option and I did, as I was very excited to have my new phone and wanted to get to using it.

Edit: This does sound kinda fishy, but if he's not the owner, then the owner will just call VZW and have the ESN locked.

THE PASSWORD RESET OPTION JUST PLAIN DOES NOT WORK

I stupidly let my niece try and "break in" to my Droid X till it locked and demanded my Gmail password.

I thought no big deal and typed:
<username>
<password>

NOPE password 6 or 7 more times.

Oh it must be...

<username@gmail.com>
<password>

NOPE

password 6 or 7 more times.

Hummmm.... go to my laptop

Log in to Gmail. Change password to something nice and easy. Go back to Droid X.

Reset Phone. Full restore from backup. I was pretty pissed off about that.

I just locked up my phone and did the password reset with no issues. I would be more scared of letting your niece play with your device. =P
