Hello.

Hello, I am new to the community. I am having a battery issue, which is what brings me here today.
I have 2 Motorola Droid 3 devices.
One is mine, One is my wife's.
I activated both of them at the same time when I received them in the mail.

Since day 1:
-My battery life with device in airplane mode <8hrs dead.
-My wife's lasts all day without any issues.
-I ran Juice Defender, she didnt.
-She leaves on Wifi, Global, no setting changes at all.
-I looked up and optimized all of my settings how people said to set them up.
-I didn't install any extra apps besides JD and Lookout Security.
-She plays games all the time and streams movies.
-I have left the phone without using it at all in airplane mode a few times now.

I am completely confounded and after reading information on these forums it appears my next step is a factory reset unless I want to root my device which I would not be comfortable doing unless I could easily undo it which it does not appear there is a method for yet. I am really hoping that I can get similar or better results than my wife simply because I talked her into switching to smartphones and with a $60 more charge on our bill for a data plan we didn't formerly have, it isn't looking good when I haven't even logged 12 MB of data in more than a week because I cannot use the phone out about in the world without the battery dieing 10% or more per hour. At this point I have literally disabled every possible thing I can on the phone, including putting it into airplane mode almost all the time (killing cell radio to try to help formerly 30-45% of usage), and still experiencing full charge to 0% in less than 8 hours. I am sure there is a better place to post this, but I thought that since this was the reason that I was here it would follow that it would also be my introductory post.

After I try the reset I will probably have to take the device by the local store if it doesn't improve.

welcpme to the forum. unfortunately with these devices the batery life arent that great. a few things:
#1 if u have an auto task killer , uninstall it. does nothing for u but kill/end apps that u actually need to run
#2 change from Global to CDMA, the device will work harder in Global frequency
#3 always turn off WiFi when not in use, even tho its faster than most 3G modes but never leave it on continuously
#4 juice defender worked for a good while for me at 15-22 hours of life but with certain apps it works against my usage and drained it faster.

imo i suggest getting an extended battery. playing games definiately will drain ur battery quick. and as normal, adjist ur personal settings

Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and did a factory reset and it seems to have improved the device a bit. I am running it right now to see how long battery will last at idle now. I didn't reinstall anything either, no JD, no Lookout, no apps. If I am still having issues I will direct my future posts to the appropriate forum Droid 3 > Troubleshooting I would think... Thank you very much!
