Group messaging in stock app questions.

I've got the Verizon S4 and am wondering about the stock Messaging app. If I can, I'd just as soon not install a third party. It looks like it's supposed to be able to send group messages but I'm wondering about

1) When people reply to a group message are their replies placed in a common thread or listed as individual messages? I have Group Conversations checked, btw, but wondering if that's worked for people.
2) Is there the option to chose between reply just to the sender or reply to all? I've had message apps before where I couldn't even tell it was sent to a group and I replied to the group without knowing. I'm wondering how it looks & works in the stock app.

Curious for "real world" experiences as to how the app works.

You can reply to all or single recipient, have not used it much but have done that a couple of times with the stock app.
