Google Voice Search has disappeared!

Did a factory reset and everything went well...except, I now cannot find Google Voice Search. The app shows in the Play Store as having been installed, and it also show in the 'manage apps' section. But there's no icon for it in my apps, and so I have no way to create a shortcut for it on my home page. Help!!!

It looks like they took that actual app out of the app drawer. If you press the search button it will come up and you can just tap the mic button.

Also you could make that your double tap home command by going into Settings>Accessibility>and scroll down to the bottom and choose Double tap home launch, make that voice search.

Here's a workaround I think you'll find more than one use for...
  1. Download QuickShortcutMaker at Play
  2. Click the Activities tab
  3. In the Input keyword to filter box put: Voice
  4. Select Voice Search
  5. Try it out and/or rename it or just click OK
Voila!

I lost mine also

I went to apps>scrolled thru all the apps until I got to widgets, found it there and moved it back to my home page

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

Spot on! Followed your steps, then went into the widgets section of the app tray and there it was.

That's pretty slick! Thanks, Sally. And thanks for all the suggestions, guys and gals!! :hail:

Glad it worked. FoxKat's tip didn't work for me. I use the long press on the search button but was thinking there's got to be another way if you wanted it. That app can make a shortcut to a lot of different things.

Long press on the search button for me brings up the option for voice search and take a screen shot with Screenshot UX, that is cool didn't know I could do that!

Yes, it's strange, FoxKat's tip didn't work for me either. Tried it three times, but each time I disabled Voice Search and re-booted, Voice Search had re-enabled itself, and still was not available in apps or widgets. Fortunately the Quickshortcutmaker program worked like a charm!

Same happened with my samsung galaxy note 5. This is how I got it back

- Hold on screen where you want the bar
- Select Widgets at the bottom
- You'll see the Google bar combined with 3 other things that you don't want on the screen
- Select it with one touch
- It brings up another sub widget which lets you individually pick the Google search bar only.
- Hold on the search bar till your main screen comes up...
- maneuver to a spot that has space, then release to apply to that section
