Going to a larger SD card

I will currently have a 16 Gb card and want to for to a 32 Gb card. Can I copy all the contents on the 16 and paste it on the new 32 one? Will this work?

32GB micro SD cards are still pretty expensive and I've not yet filled up my 16GB card and I still have about 6GB free on the phone's internal memory. So I'm not changing it out yet.

If you are doing it though, how much are you spending? I have a drawer full of 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB etc. CF and SD cards that cost a lot of money (all told, probably way more than the Droid X cost me!) several years ago and I don't want to send much more on storage!
