Gingerbread and Tethering

I have a couple of questions. Supposly people's X is getting updated automatically if they are on 2.3.340 sbf and that the system will automatically update itself. Is this true if anyone knows?

Ive installed gingerbread before and loved everything about it. only thing i was wondering was, has or will a tethering ever work on that? (barnacle, wireless tether) Because that's mainly the only reason why i went back to froyo.

You need the tbh tether patch, it installs as an update.zip file. They have an app you can buy or find someone who posted it

It worked like a charm for me on liberty gingerbread. I still tether using wireless tether for ease of use but it will unlock the verizon tether too
