Gingerbread 6-1-2011

After installing, can we re root with z4 root? Don't want to lose my free tethering.

You lost your free tethering with the install of gingerbread, sorry. When you use any third party app to tether it auto launches the 3G hotspot app too and eventually takes you to the "if you want to use this service you need to pay for it" page. I wasn't able to find the app or even the .apk using titanium to freeze it on the leaked versions so unless someone knows how to stop the hotspot from launching with the free tether apps your screwed unless you revert back to froyo.

Leak Gingerbread 573 (the very first leak of Gingerbread by p3droid) allows tethering to still work. The Verizon OTA blocks teething all together plus as installed the OS is not able to be rooted.

Some one will find a way soon enough.

Are all of you getting this OTA or downloading it from another place?

I've been checking since midnight and it still tells me I am up to date (running .595 leak). Does it NEED me on Froyo or something? I mean, I thought .595 would take the OTA update when it was released.

When I get text messages, via Handscent, I no longer get an indicator light. It use to light up blue for all text messages, and red for my wife. Now, I get neither.

Thanks for the response. I will hold off on installing gb for now.

You can, however, upgrade to the rooted .596 very easily.

Ah, I missed that part. Thanks!

uggg. they didnt fix the super annoying bright hard key lights!
who thought making the hard hey lights into mini freaking lasers was a good idea?

I pulled down the update this morning. Downloaded and installed in about 5 min via wi fi. The button backlights are super bright, and I note that they shut off prematurely. Only issues so far. Phone runs fast.

Had to DL another Home Switcher 'cause the one I was using did not recognize the Blur home. Played around with the new Blur and it still sucks IMO. Back to ADW Ex which seems to work well with GB.

I can't even get the OTA to install. I must have downloaded it 7 times already, on the 8th now. I was rooted before using z4 but i only used it for the wireless tethering. I restored my phone back to factory by using settings/privacy/factory data reset but it still won't work.

After downloading on wifi, when my phone restarts so it would install, it will always fail saying something about the update.zip not being there. Where is "there" and why am i wasting data downloading something that isn't "there"?

I've got the update notice when I checked for it, but I'm going to wait to DL til I read more. Finding any other issues yet?
