The new mobile phone is now available for pre-order on the company’s website, where it features an estimated shipping date of December 9th.

The handset is listed contract free, with a price tag of $678.50 attached to it, which might seem quite a lot for some.

However, considering the fact that this is the first handset in the world to arrive on shelves with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, it sounds like a deal.

What remains to be seen is when the mobile phone is launched on shelves at Verizon. Recent reports on a December 8th launch seem to have been confirmed through the December 9th shipping date that Negri Electronics lists on its website.

The new mobile phone arrives at Big Red with a large touchscreen capable of delivering an HD resolution, complemented by a fast 1.2GHz dual-core application processor, and 32GB of internal memory.

“The Samsung GALAXY Nexus for Verizon is the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich handset to land on US soil, and it is packed with droolworthy specs to boot, like a 4.65" HD Super AMOLED display with 1280x720 pixels, and LTE connectivity,” the retailer notes on its website.

The Galaxy Nexus also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper in the back, with support for full HD video recording, and a front-facing camera for video calling.

When made available at Verizon, the handset will deliver support for the wireless carrier’s CDMA2000 and LTE 700 networks, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and more. It is powered by a Li-Ion 1850 mAh battery.
