Don't know if I am offbase here...but would'nt the nexus be screaming fast running either froyo or gb? I realize that ics is the native os...but could'nt these beasts run the others as well?

No way, I want eclair! ;)

You would have to have drivers available for the hardware however.

For what reason though? The Nexus is just as fast as the Rezound and Razr, which are running GB.

I wonder this too, I mean look at the S2 on gingerbread. It out specs this phone and is absolute butter on 2.3. I have to wonder..

You wouldn't have HW acceleration so some parts could be less smooth.

ics adds features. thats what you bought this phone in the first place. think of this-

A supercomputer running windows 7 well could be pretty damn fast running windows millennium couldnt it? well nobody is going to downgrade because new operating systems add more features (and undercover features we dont even know about) that make the device better.

I understand the gnex cpu is underclocked at 1.2ghz, overclock and it will be blazingly fast

Although ice cream sandwich uses more ram, the code is better and even runs a helluva lot faster on the droid 1.
